The Ideal Road Trip Route through Italy: Luxury and Must-Sees.
A dream road trip through Italy, from Lake Como to the rolling hills of Tuscany, the breathtaking Amalfi Coast, tranquil Puglia, and the gem of Portofino.
An inside look into the world's most iconic and luxurious hotel, the Jumeirah Burj Al Arab. With Hermès amenities, 24-karat gold-topped cappuccinos, butler service, and a fleet of Rolls Royce transfers.
The Jumeirah Burj Al Arab is one of the most renowned hotels on earth, often dubbed the only 7-star hotel because of its incomparable luxury. It was high on my list for hotel reviewing, and I had the privilege of doing so. An icon in every sense, where you get tremendous value for money.
The customer experience begins upon your arrival at DXB airport, where you are welcomed into the luxurious Jumeirah lounge after collecting your baggage. Here, you can unwind and wait for your driver while enjoying a delightful snack and beverage. There’s even the option to use a luxurious shower facility (handy if you have an immediate appointment). You are then picked up in a Rolls Royce (or similar) to be transported to the Jumeirah Burj Al Arab.
When you arrive at the hotel, everything is taken care of just as you would expect from a luxury hotel like Jumeirah Burj Al Arab. You are promptly escorted to your suite where a quick check-in occurs along with an explanation of the features, and your luggage arrives promptly. The enjoyment can begin immediately with a warm welcome of delicious treats and a bottle of Louis Roederer champagne.
The smallest suite starts at 170 square meters and features a duplex layout. There is a guest toilet downstairs and a very spacious bathroom upstairs filled with Hermès toiletries. A true surprise awaits upstairs, a full-size Hermes perfume for each guest as a gift. And that’s not all, every evening a small gift of a mini Hermès perfume awaits. And let’s not forget about the breathtaking view. A-ma-zing!
BOOK YOUR JUMEIRAH BURJ AL ARAB STAYThe location needs less explanation, as almost everyone knows and recognizes this icon. The hotel is perfectly centrally located and somewhat offshore (apart from the islands). It is a artificial private island connected by a single road to Jumeirah Beach. The malls are within easy reach by taxi, as well as ‘The Walk JBR Dubai’ and the Souk Madinat Jumeirah. In less than 25 minutes (without traffic), you can reach the hotel from the airport.
From the hotel, you have views of the Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Beach, and in the distance, you can see the Dubai Marina skyline.
JUMEIRAH BURJ AL ARAB PRICESA unique blend of Arabian chic & incomparable luxury.
Considered one of the tallest hotels globally, the Jumeirah Burj Al Arab was designed by British architect Tom Wright. Construction commenced in 1994, culminating in its official opening on December 1st, 1999.
Despite its 25-year-old furniture, everything is impeccably maintained and enduring, thanks to meticulous upkeep and the use of high-quality, durable materials.
In 2024, the hotel will mark its 25th anniversary with anticipated celebrations that exemplify the grandeur of Jumeirah Burj Al Arab. The hotel boasts 199 exclusive suites, each offering personalized 24-hour butler service. As soon as you step out of the lift, your suite door is already open for you. The smallest suite spans 170 m2, while the largest Royal Suite covers 780 m2.
The sail-shaped superstructure is adorned with a Teflon-coated woven glass fiber screen, transforming from white during the day to a spectacle of colored lights at night. Inside, a rainbow-painted atrium ascends to heights comparable to the Eiffel Tower.
BOOK YOUR STAYThe style of the Burj Al Arab is synonymous with richness and grandeur. Designed to resemble the sail of a ship, its distinctive architecture stands out against Dubai’s skyline.
Inside, the decor is lavish and luxurious, featuring extravagant details like gold accents, marble finishes, and intricate mosaics. Every corner exudes elegance, from the soaring atrium with its vibrant colors to the deluxe suites appointed with designer furniture and Hermès toiletries. In the closet, you’ll find two beautiful silk kimonos available for your use during your stay, reminiscent of the Dolce & Gabbana majolica-print collection.
The overall style blends modern luxury with Arabian hospitality, creating an unforgettable experience that highlights extravagance at every turn. Moreover, the Burj Al Arab is a highly Instagrammable hotel, with every corner boasting a real wow-factor, perfect for capturing stunning photos and creating lasting memories.
Luxuriously appointed duplex suites with a grand staircase leading upstairs. Walk-in closets where your luggage can be unpacked and displayed upon request. Large windows allowing you to enjoy breathtaking views every second.
In the morning, a surprise awaits when you can automatically open the curtains and immediately enjoy the view (it never gets old, it’s that beautiful). There’s a comfortable desk in case you need to attend to some emails. The bathroom features a bathtub (jacuzzi) and a spacious separate shower.
Between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM, you can pamper in complimentary drinks (soft drinks, wine, and beer) and snacks. Let your butler prepare the jacuzzi with a choice of bath salts and enjoy a glass of wine before dinner.
The turn-down service is a real delight, with treats, everything neatly prepared for the night as you would expect, and again, a mini Hermès perfume on your pillow. Sleep tight.
Another reason why the Jumeirah Burj Al Arab Dubai is so special is its very own (and highly popular) SAL beach club, exclusively available for hotel guests. Day passes are available depending on availability. The beach club features 2 large pools, including a stunning infinity pool, all beautifully designed with comfortable loungers.
Private cabanas are available, equipped like true villas with spacious terraces featuring loungers, dining areas, a living room with a flat-screen TV, air conditioning, and a minibar.
The restaurant is truly fantastic, offering delicious lunch dishes ranging from lobster linguine pasta to one of the best tuna tartare with caviar in my opinion.
SAL is a sought-after hotspot in Dubai, attracting visitors for its luxurious amenities, stunning pools, and exceptional dining options overlooking the Arabian Gulf.
Looking for a sandy beach experience with a DJ and a view of the iconic hotel? Jumeirah Burj Al Arab has it all covered. Summersalt at Jumeirah Al Naseem is ideal for a quick golf cart ride from the hotel.
Summersalt at Jumeirah Al Naseem offers experimental fusion cuisine, expert mixology, and live DJ performances.
In addition to the beach, you can enjoy a delightful pool and a stunning restaurant serving fusion cuisine. It’s a well-known beach club and definitely adds value to your stay at Jumeirah Burj Al Arab. Be prepared to Shazam the beats for home enjoyment.
At Summersalt at Jumeirah Al Naseem, you’ll witness one of the most beautiful sunsets. After a day of relaxation, you’ll be comfortably taken back to the hotel to prepare for dinner at one of the top restaurants that Jumeirah Burj Al Arab has to offer.
Jumeirah Burj Al Arab is home to 7 exceptional restaurants, each of which is of a very high standard and unique in its own way.
Bab Al Yam – Start your day with breakfast (or dinner) at Bab Al Yam. This restaurant offers a European banquet along with à la carte options. Enjoy the outdoor terrace overlooking Jumeirah Beach or dine indoors with floor-to-ceiling windows, which ensures a light and bright ambiance.
Al Muntaha – Two-star Michelin classic French haute cuisine at Al Muntaha on the 27th floor, boasting one of Dubai’s best views. Chef Saverio Sbaragli, trained under three Michelin-starred Chef Alain Ducasse, presents a menu blending French and Italian flavors. Don’t miss the exquisite Raviolli del Plin, a standout dish of the evening in my opinion.
Ristorante L’Olivo at Al Mahara – Experience dining in an underwater oasis at Ristorante L’Olivo. This restaurant features a spacious aquarium and unique decor reminiscent of ‘The Little Mermaid’. Executive Chef Andrea Migliaccio, formerly from Jumeirah’s sister hotel Capri Palace, presents a delicious seafood menu, including exceptional scallops paired with the best wines.
Al Iwan – Meaning “royal dining hall” in Arabic, Al Iwan serves traditional Arabic cuisine. Enjoy mezze to share, such as stuffed vine leaves, grilled eggplant with tahini, labneh soft cheese, and lemon juice, all topped with pomegranate seeds.
Gilt – Located on the 27th floor and a mixture of urban metropolitan glamour. Gilt offers timeless classics and signature cocktails amid stunning interiors. Watch Dubai’s skyline sparkle as you sip cocktails served with dry ice clouds.
Sahn Eddar – Located in the hotel lounge, Sahn Eddar is perfect for indulging in a 24-karat gold cappuccino or the famous high tea experience. A Tea Sommelier will guide you through an expansive menu while you savor caviar blinis.
Skyview Bar – Adjacent to Al Muntaha, Skyview Bar is ideal for pre-dinner drinks or a memorable nightcap. Enjoy breathtaking views you’ll never forget.
And if you have an early flight departing, end your stay with a delightful in-room breakfast, easily ordered via your butler through WhatsApp along with arranging your taxi.
A world of exclusive pastries crafted by Chef Tom Coll at Jumeirah Burj Al Arab.
Chef Tom Coll, known for his work at for instance Hotel Martinez in Cannes, now serves as the Executive Pastry Chef at Jumeirah Burj Al Arab. His creations are true works of art, far surpassing the mere label of “pastry” with their aesthetic appeal and carefully selected flavors.
Indulge in Chef Tom Coll’s masterpieces at Sahn Eddar (lobby lounge), where each pastry is a delightful blend of craftsmanship.
I’ve been fortunate to experience several Talise spas by Jumeirah, but this one is truly exceptional. The infinity indoor pool alone is a dream, offering a view that takes your breath away. Everything exudes pure luxury, and that’s not even mentioning the array of treatments available.
I opted for the signature ‘Burj Al Arab’ massage—a 90-minute indulgence focused on easing muscles and enhancing circulation. This treatment blends techniques from traditional Shiatsu, Thai, Swedish, and Balinese massages, delivering sheer bliss with finely crafted organic aromatic oils.
At the end of the session, the therapist provides a personalized card with well-being tips (like staying hydrated), details of the products used, and recommendations for your next massage.
Tip: Schedule your massage for late afternoon. You’ll wake up to a stunning sunset from your panoramic treatment room, upgrading the experience to sheer perfection.
